Named Accountable GP

We have been instructed by the Department of Health to allocate a Named Accountable GP for each patient on our practice list.    This is mainly an administrative exercise and does not affect your choice to see a different GP: in a small rural practice such as Terrington there is only one GP working per session.   Your Named Accountable GP is the doctor to whom your care was allocated when you registered with the practice; the name will be shown on clinic letters and prescriptions.    If you are still unsure which doctor is your Named Accountable GP please telephone the Reception Team and they will give you this information.

These are ladies & gents who extract blood from you when the GPs request investigations.

[Photograph to the right]   Our Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The Practice Manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Our Secretaries organise your referrals to hospital care and incoming requests for medical/insurance reports as well as many other tasks.

District nurses play a crucial role in the primary health care team. They visit people in their own homes or in residential care homes, providing care for patients and supporting family members.

As well as providing direct patient care, district nurses have a teaching role, working with patients to enable them to care for themselves or with family members teaching them how to give care to their relatives.

The district nurses from the Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale Virtual Ward look after our patients.

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children 0 - 5 years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social well being.
